Nesta Alexandrite & Paula Shell Couples Ring Set

Watch her ring in morning light and it reads cool teal-green; move into lamplight and it warms to a soft purplish-red. That living color shift is the whole point of the Nesta Alexandrite & Paula Shell Couples Ring Set — an alexandrite couples ring set that pairs a genuinely color-changing halo for her with an oceanic hammered tungsten band for him. Two rings, two textures, one story about love that transforms and endures. Color-changing lab-grown alexandrite Oval halo setting Natural paua shell inlay 8mm hammered tungsten band Comfort fit & hypoallergenic Ethically sourced stones Alexandrite is famous for one dramatic trick: it appears to change color depending on the light around it. Because her center stone is a faceted, open-set oval held high in a halo — not buried or capped — that shift is genuinely visible on the hand, moving between green and purplish-red as she moves through her day. It is the rarest optical effect in gemstones, and here it becomes a quiet metaphor for a relationship that adapts, deepens and reveals new facets over time. If you are drawn to gemstones with a story rather than a spec sheet, our journal on alexandrite vs sapphire and which gemstone feels more unique is a lovely place to start. For Her An oval lab-grown alexandrite, 6×8mm, framed in a brilliant halo of high-grade cubic zirconia with marquise-inspired side detailing. Set in 925 sterling silver with a bright rhodium finish, the elongated oval flatters the finger while the color shift takes center stage. For Him An 8mm hammered and brushed tungsten carbide band inlaid with natural paua shell — a rugged profile softened by shifting oceanic iridescence. Comfort-fit and highly scratch-resistant, it is built for a lifetime of daily wear. The Color-Changing Alexandrite Center Stone Her center stone is a lab-grown alexandrite, oval-cut at 6×8mm, and its defining feature is that dynamic color shift — cool green under daylight and fluorescent light, warming to a purplish-red under incandescent and candlelight. Because the stone is faceted and set openly in a halo, this shift genuinely reads on the hand rather than hiding inside the setting. That is the single most important thing to understand about this ring, and it is exactly what people are asking about when they wonder whether the effect is real; our guide to whether synthetic alexandrite changes colors explains the science behind it. Choosing a lab-grown alexandrite also means you get that spectacular optical drama with consistent quality and a clear, ethical origin — natural alexandrite of this size and clarity is extraordinarily rare and priced accordingly. If you want to understand exactly what you are buying, our article on lab-grown vs natural alexandrite, and what shoppers actually need to know lays it out honestly. An Oval Halo With Vintage Refinement The setting is designed to make the most of that shifting center. A brilliant halo of high-grade cubic zirconia rings the alexandrite, magnifying its presence and catching light from every angle, while marquise-inspired side detailing adds a note of vintage refinement to the modern silhouette. The oval cut itself is quietly flattering — its length visually elongates the finger. It is a color-changing ring that manages to feel both contemporary and timeless, which is why it sits so naturally within our wider alexandrite jewelry range. His Hammered Tungsten Band With Paua Shell His ring answers her brilliance with texture and depth. The 8mm band is hammered and brushed tungsten carbide — a resilient, faceted surface that catches light unevenly and reads as rugged and characterful — inset with an inlay of natural paua shell. Paua is a genuine shell harvested from the sea, and no two pieces are alike; each strip flashes its own blend of blue, green and violet iridescence, like ocean light shifting beneath the surface. Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials used in jewelry, so the band shrugs off everyday scratches and holds up beautifully to daily life. If you want to weigh the trade-offs of the metal itself, our guide to tungsten wedding bands, their pros, cons and who they are best for is worth a read before you choose his size. The Metal & Finish Her ring is crafted in solid 925 sterling silver finished with rhodium, a bright white plating that boosts shine and keeps the metal luminous against the alexandrite's shifting hues. The finish is hypoallergenic and comfortable for everyday wear, and the polished white-silver band with marquise-inspired accents keeps the focus squarely on the center stone. His tungsten band brings the opposite energy — dense, permanent and textured — so the pair balances refined sparkle with grounded strength. Together they belong to the same family as the rest of our alexandrite couples rings. Why Couples Choose This Set This set is for partners who want something unconventional yet timeless — a pairing that isn't a matched twin but a considered duet. The color-changing alexandrite makes an unforgettable alternative to a traditional diamond, while his ocean-inspired band adds texture and meaning of its own. It is a favorite for alternative wedding styles, vow renewals, engagements and anniversary gifts, and for couples drawn to distinctive materials over convention. You will find it in good company throughout our couples rings collection. Frequently Asked Questions Does the alexandrite really change color? Yes. Because the center stone is a faceted oval set openly in a halo, its color shift is genuinely visible on the hand — cool green in daylight and fluorescent light, warming to purplish-red under incandescent and candlelight. This is alexandrite's signature optical effect. Is the alexandrite natural or lab-grown? It is lab-grown alexandrite. Natural alexandrite of this size and clarity is extraordinarily rare and costly, so a lab-grown stone gives you the same dramatic color change with consistent quality and a clear, ethical origin. What colors does the stone shift between? It moves between a cool teal-green and a soft purplish-red depending on the light source around it. Daylight and fluorescent light bring out the green; warm incandescent and candlelight bring out the red. What is the paua shell in his band? Paua shell is a natural shell from the sea, prized for its blue-green-violet iridescence. Because it is a natural material, every inlay is one of a kind — no two bands flash exactly the same pattern of color. What are the accent stones on her ring? The halo and side detailing use high-grade cubic zirconia (simulated diamonds), which frame the alexandrite with bright, consistent sparkle and amplify the center stone's presence. What metal is her ring? Her ring is solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish — a bright white plating that enhances shine and durability. It is hypoallergenic and comfortable for everyday wear. Tell me about the men's band. His ring is an 8mm hammered and brushed tungsten carbide band with a natural paua shell inlay and a comfort-fit interior. Tungsten is highly durable and scratch-resistant, ideal for daily wear. Are these rings hypoallergenic? Yes. Both the rhodium-finished sterling silver and the tungsten carbide are hypoallergenic and comfortable for sensitive skin. Can the rings be resized? Her sterling silver ring can be resized within reason, with resizing starting from a modest fee. His tungsten band cannot be resized because the metal is too hard to work — if he is between sizes, order up, and we offer an easy size exchange. Is the oval cut flattering on the finger? Yes. The elongated oval shape visually lengthens the finger, and the halo adds width and presence, so the ring wears larger and more graceful than the stone's dimensions alone might suggest. How do I care for the paua shell inlay? Keep the shell away from harsh chemicals, prolonged water and abrasion. Remove his ring before swimming, cleaning or applying products, and wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth to preserve the shell's iridescence. Is alexandrite durable enough for daily wear? Yes. Lab-grown alexandrite is a hard, durable gemstone well suited to everyday wear, and the halo setting adds protection to the center stone. Routine care will keep it looking its best for years. What occasions is this set suited to? It is popular for alternative wedding sets, engagements, vow renewals and anniversary gifts — especially for couples drawn to color-changing gemstones and distinctive, ocean-inspired materials. What is included and how is it packaged? Your set arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box, ready to gift or propose with, and is backed by our lifetime warranty. All stones are conflict-free and ethically sourced.
