Albuca osmynella

Albuca Osmynella also goes by the name Slime Lillies. With its origin in South Africa, the plant belongs to the Asparagaceae family and can grow up to a height of 3 to 4 feet. This curly-shaped succulent offers a dormancy of summer. Growth Rate The main attraction of Albuca Osmynella is that it is an unusually fast-growing plant. Its growth is so rapid that sometimes, it may deplete the nutrients in its soil over time and may need frequent repotting. Flowering Albuca Osmynella blooms and grows between summer to early fall. The branching flowers are yellow. Watering and Feeding Since Try the Albuca Osmynella thrives in dry soil, be sure to water only just sparingly. Feed the plant every 1 to 2 months and increase the frequency in the growing season. Soil Good soil for slime lilies has a lot of organic matter like perlite and vermiculite. You can also add perlite to a regular store-bought potting soil for drainage purposes. Hardiness Albuca Osmynella is not tolerant of cold temperatures and even a list frost of -1° C to -2°C will severely damage the plant. Also, keep in mind its hardiness zone of 8. Light The more sun Albuca gets, the curlier leaves it will grow. Give the plant full and bright sunlight to avoid the dropping of leaves. If growing indoors, place the container less than 3 feet away from the window for ample sunlight. Propagation Use offsets to propagate the plant quickly. However, not all slime lilies produce offsets, so you may need to rely on seeds to propagate the plant. Keep in mind that this winter grower drops a lot of leaves during dormancy. To prevent this, give it ample sunlight and less shade. Some of the information in this description has been found at desert-tropicals.com, llifle.com and cactus-art.biz
