Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop', Bugleweed

Deep burgundy/black/dark green highly textural leaves spread beneath vertical spires of sky-blue to violet in late spring. Glossy, the leaves glint in the sunlight like the riffled surface of a dark lake in wind—a groundcover mat forms from these spreading, dramatic leafy rosettes. Plants will thrive if shielded from hot afternoon sun and given summer water. The foliage is tough, deer-resistant and tolerates some light foot traffic. Mature size: 6 inches tall x 15 - 20 inches wide. Minimum temperature: -30° F
