AJR Single Jointed Eggbutt Rubber Pelham Bit

We love the innovative design of this bit. The Single Jointed Rubber Eggbutt Pelham is a remarkable bit that combines the distinct design elements of the Eggbutt Snaffle with the Pelham. What sets this bit apart is its rubber construction, which offers a softer and more forgiving contact on the horse’s mouth, making it especially suitable for sensitive horses. The Eggbutt component, with its signature oval-shaped ring, ensures a stable, fixed point, reducing the chance of pinching the horse’s lips and delivering a consistent, direct communication between horse and rider. In contrast, the Pelham aspect introduces a shank that can accommodate two sets of reins. The direct rein imparts snaffle-like action, while the second, attached at the shank’s bottom, adds leverage. This dual-rein mechanism exerts both direct pressure and leverage on the horse’s poll and chin groove when the curb rein is engaged. By fusing these features, the Single Jointed Rubber Eggbutt Pelham provides a combination of the Eggbutt’s comfort and the Pelham’s versatility, making it a preferred choice for varied control in disciplines. Given the leverage potential, it remains crucial for riders to use this bit with sensitivity and care, always considering the horse’s comfort and welfare.
