Air Force, ROTC

A fascinating artifact of early 1970s graphic design, this Air Force ROTC recruitment poster captures a remarkable moment when military advertising embraced the visual language of youth counterculture. Signed by the artist Berry and dated '73, the design transforms the acronym 'ROTC' into flowing psychedelic bubble letters, surrounded by organic cloud forms, scattered stars, and a sleek jet aircraft soaring through the composition. Produced by the U.S. Government Printing Office for the Air Force Recruiting Service Directorate of Advertising, this poster represents a calculated attempt to appeal to college students using the Peter Max-influenced aesthetic that defined the era. The soft pastel palette of lavender, pink, light blue, and olive green creates an unexpectedly dreamy quality for military recruitment material. A standout piece for collectors of military ephemera, psychedelic design, or Vietnam War era Americana, this poster bridges the ideological divide of its time through pure visual strategy. Complete with GPO document number and production credits, it offers both historical documentation and striking graphic appeal. Size: 40.0" x 24.0" Condition: Fair to Good
