Ahak

Ahak, also known as calcium oxide, is a chemical compound that is commonly used in the textile industry for treating fabrics and rugs. In the Persian rug-making tradition, it is used to brighten colors and sanitize rugs. It is known to have a bleaching effect that can make the colors of a rug appear more vibrant and vivid. Ahak is typically mixed with water to form a paste, which is then applied to the rug with a brush. The paste is left to dry on the rug before being washed off with water. This process can be repeated multiple times until the desired level of brightness is achieved. In addition to its brightening properties, it is also known to have antimicrobial properties. When applied to rugs, it can help to eliminate any bacteria or fungi that may be present. This makes it a useful tool for disinfecting rugs, especially those that have been used in high-traffic areas. It is important to note that ahak is a strong alkaline compound and should be used with caution. It can be hazardous to handle, and proper safety precautions should be taken when working with it. 12 oz. jar
