African Violet (Saintpaulia ionantha)

Classic Charm That Blooms All Year Long Beloved for generations, African Violets are the quintessential flowering houseplant—compact, cheerful, and reliably blooming. With their velvety leaves and clusters of delicate purple blooms, these charming plants bring a touch of cottage garden warmth to windowsills, desks, and tabletops. When given the right care, African Violets can bloom continuously throughout the year, offering endless color in a petite package. Why You’ll Love It Perpetual Blooms – Happy African Violets are generous bloomers, producing clusters of flowers year-round. With proper care, you’ll enjoy wave after wave of delicate blossoms that brighten even the dreariest days. Compact & Cozy – Their small size makes them perfect for tight spaces—think kitchen windowsills, bedside tables, or office desks. They pack maximum charm into minimal square footage. Timeless Appeal – There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about African Violets. They evoke memories of grandmothers’ windowsills and simpler times, making them both a gift and a tradition. Surprisingly Easy – Despite their delicate appearance, African Violets are quite forgiving once you understand their simple needs. They’re perfect for plant lovers who enjoy a bit of hands-on care. Pet-Safe – Non-toxic to cats and dogs, so you can display these beauties anywhere in your home without worry. Care Tips Light: Bright, indirect light. East or north-facing windows are ideal. They’ll tell you if they’re unhappy—too much light bleaches leaves; too little means fewer blooms. Water: Water from below to keep leaves dry, or water carefully at soil level. Keep soil consistently moist but never soggy. Room-temperature water is best—cold water can spot the leaves. Humidity: Enjoys 50-60% humidity. Group with other plants or place on a pebble tray for best results. Temperature: Prefers consistent warmth (65-75°F). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Feeding: Feed with diluted African Violet fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during active growth for continuous blooming. ✓ Pet Safety: African Violets are non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs.
