Adaptive AFO Shoe

Getting a brace into a shoe shouldn’t feel like a daily battle. Yet for many AFO users, most sneakers simply aren’t designed to fit — or require awkward twisting, forcing, and frustration. We built the Cadense ALIRO AFO Shoe to change that. Designed entirely around the needs of AFO users, it makes putting on shoes simple, fast, and comfortable — without sacrificing style or performance. With Cadense’s patented Variable Friction Technology, the shoe adapts as you move — gliding smoothly if your brace drags, then gripping firmly when you apply weight. Combined with dual one-finger flaps and an extra-wide entry system, it helps you walk with greater independence and stability, especially when fatigue sets in. During beta testing, over 85% of participants completed the 12-week study, with many reporting improved walking speed, longer endurance, and increased confidence in mobility. Several participants even doubled their walking distance during the trial.
