The LG Refrigerator Ice Maker is the self-contained assembly responsible for producing and harvesting ice inside your LG French Door refrigerator. It works by drawing in water from the supply line, freezing it in a mold tray, and then ejecting the finished ice cubes into the storage bin on a timed cycle. The assembly includes the motor, heating element, and control components needed to complete each ice-making cycle automatically. The LG Refrigerator Ice Maker can fail due to a burned-out heater element, a seized ejector motor, a cracked ice mold, or damage to the internal control board that manages the cycle timing. Mineral deposits from hard water, repeated freezing and thawing stress, and age-related wear on moving parts are common causes that gradually reduce output until the unit stops making ice entirely. Look for these symptoms to help determine if the ice maker assembly needs to be replaced: - Refrigerator produces little or no ice despite normal freezer temperatures - Ice maker runs through cycles but ejects no cubes into the bin - Loud clicking, grinding, or buzzing sounds coming from the ice maker area - Ice cubes are misshapen, clumped together, or smaller than normal - Water leaks inside the freezer compartment near the ice maker unit - Ice maker arm or shut-off switch no longer moves or responds correctly - Freezer shows frost buildup concentrated around the ice maker assembly
