Adrenal Cortex, made from bovine adrenal cortex tissue, supports healthy adrenal function by improving stamina and promoting an energetic feeling. The hormones produced in the adrenal cortex are necessary for glucose metabolism, immune function, normal blood pressure, and more.* In today's "high-stress" world, lifestyle habits that deprive us of adequate rest and exercise, along with dietary habits fraught with caffeine and refined sugars, can, over time, take their toll on the adrenal glands. Extracts from adrenal cortex tissue can play a valuable role in supporting healthy adrenal glands – and help maintain immune function and promote an energetic feeling.* Glandular extracts also support healthy levels of cortisol.* Thorne's Adrenal Cortex provides extracts of adrenal cortex tissue for focused support of normal adrenal function.* What part does the adrenal cortex play in maintaining health? The adrenal cortex is responsible for producing a special group of hormones known as corticosteroids. These hormones are comprised of glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, and 17-ketosteroids, and are essential for important homeostatic processes throughout the body.* Glucocorticoids are necessary for glucose metabolism and immune function.* Mineralocorticoids help maintain healthy electrolyte balance and already normal blood pressure.* The 17-ketosteroids are associated with sex hormones produced by the adrenal glands.
