The Nativity and the Adoration of the Shepherds – Luini

In this image of Christ's Nativity by B. Luini, Mary and Joseph look down on the Infant Jesus, Who lies on a white cloth on the ground. A small angel stands over the Child, holding a wooden cross. Another angel holds the Child's head. An ox and a donkey look on. A large wooden cross forms a shelter behind Our Lord and His parents. Two angels stand on the left side of the cross' horizontal beam. In the background of the image, an angel appears to startled shepherds on a hillside.
