Adictivo Extra Anejo 750ML

Adictivo Extra Anejo 750ML is a 100% Blue Weber Agave extra añejo tequila aged seven years in French oak barrels, bottled at 40% ABV. That extended maturation — more than double the legal three-year minimum for the extra añejo classification — earned it Gold at the 2017 San Diego Spirits Festival and a reputation for a remarkably velvety texture often likened to fine Cognac. Quick Facts: ABV: 40%  |  Origin: El Arenal, Jalisco, Mexico  |  7-Year Extra Añejo  |  NOM 1477 (Tequilera Puerta de Hierro) Production & Heritage Adictivo is the creation of Gildardo Partida, a Jalisco-based producer currently operating under NOM 1477 at Tequilera Puerta de Hierro. Production begins with mature Blue Weber Agave sourced from the lowland valleys around El Arenal, a municipality in western Jalisco long associated with traditional tequila making. After distillation, the spirit enters French oak barrels for a full seven years — an unusually long resting period that places it well beyond most extra añejos in the market, which typically age three to five years. The extended time in French oak imparts deep color, complexity, and a reddish dark amber hue that signals considerable barrel influence. Tasting Notes Aroma: The nose opens with generous honey and caramel, followed by waves of vanilla and sweet baking spices. Behind those dessert-like top notes sit toasted oak and faint suggestions of sweet orchard fruit. Taste: The entry is soft and immediately honeyed, with caramel coating the palate early on. At mid-palate, agave sweetness merges with dried fruit and gentle oak tannins, giving structure without astringency. Vanilla and toasted wood resurface toward the peak, layered in a way that reflects the extended French oak maturation. Finish: Long and rolling, with a persistent sweetness that fades gradually rather than dropping off. Oak spice lingers alongside traces of caramel and a faint dried-fruit warmth. How to Drink Adictivo Extra Añejo Seven years in barrel make this a sipping tequila first and foremost — serve it neat in a Riedel or Glencairn glass at room temperature to appreciate the full aromatic range, or add a single ice cube if you prefer a slightly cooled pour. Its rich, dessert-forward character also works in spirit-forward cocktails: an Old Fashioned, where the tequila's honey-caramel depth replaces bourbon beautifully; an Añejo Manhattan, pairing its oak and vanilla with sweet vermouth; or a Tequila Sidecar, where orange liqueur and citrus lift the dried-fruit undertones. Best For Gifting a tequila enthusiast who appreciates extended-aged expressions After-dinner sipping alongside dessert or a fine cigar Introducing whiskey or Cognac drinkers to premium tequila Anchoring a curated tequila tasting flight from blanco through extra añejo Frequently Asked Questions What does Adictivo Extra Añejo taste like? It delivers a rich, dessert-like profile dominated by honey, caramel, and vanilla, supported by toasted oak and dried fruit. The texture is notably velvety, with a long, sweet finish that lingers well after each sip. How does Adictivo Extra Añejo compare to Clase Azul Reposado? Both attract drinkers who enjoy smooth, sweet-leaning tequila, but they sit in different age categories — Clase Azul Reposado is aged roughly eight months, while Adictivo Extra Añejo rests for seven years. The result is a significantly deeper oak influence and more complex dried-fruit and spice layering in the Adictivo expression. Is Adictivo Extra Añejo good for sipping neat? Absolutely — its seven-year French oak maturation produces a smooth, full-bodied tequila specifically built for contemplative neat sipping. The low 40% ABV keeps the palate approachable, even for those new to extra añejo tequilas. Where is Adictivo Extra Añejo made? It is produced in El Arenal, a municipality in the Valles region of Jalisco, Mexico, under NOM 1477 at Tequilera Puerta de Hierro. The brand was created by Gildardo Partida and uses 100% Blue Weber Agave sourced from the Jalisco lowlands. What foods pair well with Adictivo Extra Añejo? Dark chocolate truffles complement its caramel sweetness; grilled stone fruits echo the dried-fruit notes on the palate; aged Manchego or Gouda match the oak-driven richness; mole negro mirrors its complexity with spice and depth; and flan or crème brûlée reinforce the honey-vanilla finish. What sizes does Adictivo Extra Añejo come in? The standard release is the 750ml bottle, which is the most widely available format. Is Adictivo Extra Añejo worth the price? It positions as a premium extra añejo, and the seven-year age statement provides significantly more barrel time than most competitors in its price tier, which typically age three to five years. For drinkers seeking extended-aged complexity, it represents strong value relative to its maturation. Why Adictivo Extra Añejo? The defining differentiator here is time: seven years in French oak is rare in the extra añejo category, where many producers stop at three or four years. That additional aging yields a tequila with the textural richness and depth of character more commonly found in well-aged Cognac or premium aged rum. A Gold medal at the 2017 San Diego Spirits Festival validates the quality that extended maturation delivers. For anyone who values patience in production and a tequila that rewards slow, attentive sipping, this expression from Gildardo Partida stands as one of the more compelling long-aged options available in the category.
