ADHD Shifting Focus And Attention

Shifting attention from one task to another, known as task switching, can be challenging for clients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This is due to underlying neurological factors that lead to symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. The ADHD Shifting Focus And Attention handout is a helpful resource that provides strategies for clients, especially those with ADHD, to improve their ability to transition between tasks. The first section outlines the factors contributing to the difficulty of shifting attention, while the second section offers practical tips on how to facilitate smoother transitions using the SWITCH NOW acronym. Kids and teens using the handout can benefit from enhanced executive functioning and improve cognitive flexibility. To make their learning more effective, they can pair the handout with their own personalized set of do's and don't rules. This handout is included in our ADHD Handouts Bundle along with 28 other handouts sharing psychoeducation, tips, and coping skills to support kids and teens with ADHD. *This item is an instant digital download.
