Petrified wood is a type of fossilized wood where the original organic material has been replaced by minerals, while retaining the wood's original structure. It is the result of a tree having turned completely into stone by the process of permineralization. Unlike other types of fossils which are typically impressions or compressions, petrified wood is a three dimensional representation of the original organic material. Dimensions: 9" dia. D x 26" H
