Pale Yellow Oil on Canvas, Framed

Abstract oil on canvas by Robert Steven Koffler (1938–2022), composed in heavily worked layers of pale yellow, cream, blue-gray, pink and touches of red and black. Thick, scraped passages of paint gather across the upper half of the composition, while a quieter horizontal band anchors the lower edge. Koffler was a Philadelphia-based painter and sculptor whose work evolved from figurative studies into architectonic abstraction, abstract expressionism and landscape. His work is represented in institutional collections including the Smithsonian Institutions and the Museum of Modern Art. Signed Koffler '85 lower right. Presented under glass with a wide white mat in a black frame with gold-tone detailing.
