Deep Green Oil on Canvas, Framed

Abstract oil on canvas by Robert Steven Koffler (1938–2022), dated 1984. Broad horizontal fields of deep green, brown and cream are interrupted by energetic strokes of red, blue, orange and black, creating a layered composition with a subtle landscape quality. Koffler was a Philadelphia-based painter and sculptor whose work evolved from figurative studies into architectonic abstraction, abstract expressionism and landscape. His work is represented in institutional collections including the Smithsonian Institutions and the Museum of Modern Art. Signed and dated “Koffler ’84” lower right. Presented under glass with a wide white mat in a green-painted frame with gold-tone inner detailing.
