ABC de Babar

6C written and illustrated by Jean de Brunhoff. Paris: Jardin des Modes, 1934 First Edition Notes Babar the Elephant stories, created by French author and illustrator Jean de Brunhoff in 1931, follow the adventures of a young elephant who leaves the jungle, discovers human society, and eventually returns to become the wise and benevolent king of the elephants. The books are known for their elegant watercolor illustrations, gentle humor, and calm narrative voice, blending fantasy with lessons about kindness, leadership, and community. Inspired by a bedtime story de Brunhoff’s wife told their children, Babar quickly became an international classic and a defining work of modern picture books. Over the decades, the series expanded through sequels written by de Brunhoff’s son, Laurent, and has remained influential for its distinctive visual style and its thoughtful, sometimes debated, portrayal of civilization, culture, and authority in children’s literature. This enchanting alphabet book takes you on an adventure like no other, as you explore the enchanting kingdom of Celesteville while learning your ABCs. From A for apples enjoyed by Babar and his friends to Z for the zeppelin that occasionally soars above the jungle, this book is a colorful and captivating way to introduce young readers to the magic of language and the charm of Babar's world.  Description Hardbound book with illustration on front, clear jacket cover over paper jacket, colorful words and abc's on inside pages, slight wear on paper boards and damage to the spine.
