A Visit from St. Alphabet

Poetry & illustrations by Dave Morice October 1, 2005 • 6.5 x 5 • 24 pages • 978-1-56689-179-0 A beautifully illustrated, pun-filled, alphabetical romp through the classic “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Meet St. Alphabet, the jolly star of this ingenious little book, first published over 20 years ago in a limited letterpress edition and now available once again. Under the tree or tucked into a stocking, language-lovers and children of all ages will fall for the delightfully expressive St. Alphabet, whose antics are guaranteed to capture the imagination. For those seeking the perfect gift to encourage the writer in their life, no one can beat St. Alphabet, who exclaims, as he dashes away in his sleigh, “Happy Alphabet to all, and to all a good write!” About the Author Dave Morice has written and illustrated many books for children and adults, including The Dictionary of Word Play, The Adventures of Dr. Alphabet, and Poetry Comics: An Animated Anthology. He received his Ph.D. in Library Science from the University of Iowa and continues to bring the magic of poetry to people of all ages through his work in senior centers and public schools.  Reviews “A take-off on ‘The Night Before Christmas,’ Morice’s punning frolic through the alphabet is whimsically conceived and charmingly illustrated. A small book, reasonably priced, it would make a great stocking stuffer for all those stockings hung by the chimney with care.” —Minnesota Literature “Kudos to Morice for creating a new writer’s muse, friendly and helpful in every way and guaranteed to arrive at least once a year, on ‘the night before X.” —Minneapolis Observer
