A Murder, I and II

Acrylic paint on canvas. 36"x72" together. A 2-part series. Made in 2025. This diptych surges with movement and intensity, its paired canvases working in dialogue to conjure both chaos and cohesion, capturing the turbulence of nature, memory, and violence all at once. The title, A Murder, references not only the collective noun for crows but also the specter of human violence, embedding the works in a double register of nature and history. The birds, abstracted to near dissolution, become symbols of omen and witness, their restless flight echoing with menace and memory. Together, these canvases become less depiction than event—an environment of sound, shadow, and force. The diptych invites the viewer into a space where beauty and violence blur, where gesture carries the weight of survival, and where darkness moves not only across the sky but also through collective consciousness.
