A Gut Vort

Torah Thoughts on the Weekly Parashah Oftentimes, all that is needed to transmit the beauty of Torah or the ideals of Yiddishkeit is a short vort, especially when it is said at the Shabbos table. Shabbos is a time of kedushah and tranquility, providing an atmosphere conducive to children absorbing the information that is passed on to them. The Shabbos table, therefore, is an all-important vehicle in transmitting our heritage to our children. The vertlach in this sefer are perfect for relating at the Shabbos table, with the potential to blossom into meaningful Torah discussions that can positively impact the entire family. -- Rabbi Meir Chaim Gutfreund z"l was well-known in Torah circles for his world-class mosdos: The Cheder in Brooklyn, Bais Reuven Kaminetz in Lakewood, and The Cheder of Queens. His passion for building Torah was rooted in chinuch habanim and passing down the mesorah to the next generation. Rav Gutfreund compiled many short vertlach, suitable for all ages, which he would say at the Shabbos table. Often, the "gut vort" would blossom into a full-blown meaningful Torah discussion. Now, we can all benefit from the enhnaceed and expanded edition of "A Gut Vort" on all of Chumash, Bereishis through Devarim. By Meir Chaim Gutfreund
