A Code for Victory

Reeling from the Java Sea catastrophe, four friends in the Silent Service wage a desperate campaign against a surging Japanese Empire. Spring 1942. Japan's conquest of the Southwest Pacific is nearly complete. Allied fleets lie shattered on the ocean floor, and America's submarines—armed with faulty torpedoes and led by overcautious commanders—are all that stand between victory and total defeat. Four young officers, bound by friendship and forged in the fires of war, fight on separate fronts. Trip MacLean, survivor of a sunken warship, leads a guerrilla band from a remote tropical atoll, striking at Japanese supply lines. When his fighters recover the Imperial Navy's most closely guarded codebooks, the fragile balance of power begins to shift. Stan Ward, deep in the shadows of naval intelligence, races to crack the JN-25 code before the Japanese realize it has been compromised—and before time runs out. Beneath the waves, Brad Johnson aboard the battered Tigerfish and Fred Wurster in the Wolffish press the attack against overwhelming odds, carrying the weight of a failing campaign on their shoulders. And as Japan prepares its next move, a massive invasion of Australia, these four officers—scattered across islands, intelligence offices, and hostile seas—are drawn together by a mission that could decide the Pacific War’s first year. Perfect for readers of W.E.B. Griffin and Tom Clancy who crave authentic World War II naval action. _________________ Praise for The Tides of War Series and the authors: “A page-turning tale of young naval officers and over-the-hill subs in the very early days of WWII.”—H.W. “Buzz” Bernard, author of When Heroes Flew “Readers will definitely be up until four in the morning to see how it turned out.” —John J.
