Vintage 14K Yellow Gold Garnet, Opal & Diamond Cluster Ring 894551

An exceptional vintage cluster ring - eight oval Mozambique garnets, seven oval Australian opals, and five round diamonds, all set together in 14K yellow gold with a naturalistic branching gold framework. The kind of piece where every glance reveals another color or facet. Eight oval Mozambique garnets (4.3 x 3.1mm, 1.68ct total, A grade, deep red) interleave with seven oval Australian opals (4.8 x 3.2mm, 1.47ct total, with that signature flash of fire) across the cluster, finished with five round-cut diamond accents (J color, 2mm, 0.20ct total) for sparkle. Solid 14K yellow gold, 7.3g - substantial enough to support the multi-stone construction with the textured, organic gold frame characteristic of the era. Currently a size 8.5 - easily resized by your jeweler. A serious estate piece for a collector who appreciates the harder-to-source stones (Australian opal in particular) and the craft of fitting them all into a single coherent cluster. Australia produces some of the world's most prized opal - particularly the white opal with rainbow play-of-color and the famous black opal. The fire (color-flash inside the stone) is what collectors look for. How do I care for an opal ring? Opals are softer than other gemstones (Mohs 5.5-6.5) and contain water - they can crack from sudden temperature changes or dry conditions. Clean gently with a damp cloth (no harsh chemicals, no ultrasonic), store separately, and avoid wearing in extreme heat or extended dry environments. Can it be resized? Yes, but use a jeweler experienced with opal-set rings - heat from sizing must be managed carefully to avoid stone damage. Contact us at 504-908-0011 for a referral.
