This Maple slab has a bold mix of creamy sapwood, warm golden heartwood, and heavy natural character throughout. The broad grain movement around the center gives it a strong organic look, while the spalting, bark inclusions, and open live-edge areas add dramatic visual interest. It has a rustic, sculptural quality that would work best in a project where the size, shape, and natural features are meant to stand out. This slab would make a striking dining table, giving the finished piece plenty of surface area while showcasing the dramatic color contrast and live edge. It would also work well as a large kitchen island, where the unusual shape and natural character could become the focal point of the room. For a custom interior project, it could be used as a bold headboard, highlighting the spalting, figure, and organic edge as a statement piece.
