8" Hoya Retusa

Hoya retusa is a trailing succulent vine known for its slender, lance-shaped leaves and clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers. Native to Mexico, it is popular as a decorative houseplant due to its attractive foliage and delicate blossoms. Care & Growing Condition: Light: Hoya Retusa thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light may hinder flowering. A spot near a window with filtered light is ideal. Water: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Water deeply when the top inch of the soil feels dry, typically every 1-2 weeks. In winter, reduce watering frequency, as the plant requires less moisture during its dormancy. Humidity: This plant prefers moderate to high humidity but can adapt to average household conditions. If the air is particularly dry, consider misting the plant occasionally or placing a humidifier nearby. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend designed for succulents or a mix of regular potting soil with perlite or orchid bark to enhance drainage. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring to summer). During fall and winter, reduce or cease fertilization. Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and ensure it has drainage holes. Pruning: Prune to maintain shape and manage size as needed. Remove any dead or yellowing leaves to encourage healthy growth. Pests/Diseases: Keep an eye out for common pests like mealybugs and spider mites. If spotted, treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
