74LS04

SN74LS04 replacement chip. Hex Inverters, DIP-14 Package. The 74LS04 is a popular hex inverter gate integrated circuit (IC) that belongs to the 74xx series of digital logic ICs. It is widely used in electronic circuits for various applications involving digital signal processing, computer systems, and other digital devices. The “74” in its name refers to the series, and “LS” indicates that it uses Low-Power Schottky (LS) technology. Here are some key features and information about the 74LS04: Functionality: The 74LS04 contains six independent inverters, each of which takes an input signal and produces its logical complement (inverted output). The inverter is a fundamental logic gate that outputs the opposite logic level of its input. Pin Configuration: The IC has 14 pins, with pin 7 being the ground (GND) and pin 14 the positive power supply (Vcc). Each of the six inverters has its input (labeled as 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A) and output (labeled as 1Y, 2Y, 3Y, 4Y, 5Y, and 6Y). Electrical Characteristics: Supply Voltage (Vcc): Typically operates at 5 volts. High-Level Output Voltage (Voh): Minimum voltage at which a logic high is guaranteed. Low-Level Output Voltage (Vol): Maximum voltage at which a logic low is guaranteed. High-Level Input Voltage (Vih): Minimum voltage that is recognized as a logic high. Low-Level Input Voltage (Vil): Maximum voltage that is recognized as a logic low. Applications: The 74LS04 is commonly used in digital circuits where signal inversion is required. It can be used as a building block for more complex logic functions by combining multiple ICs. Technology: The 74LS04 uses Low-Power Schottky (LS) technology, which is a type of bipolar transistor-transistor logic (TTL). Compatibility: It is important to note that the 74LS04 has compatibility with other TTL ICs. However, it may not be directly compatible with CMOS logic families without proper interfacing. When working with the 74LS04 or any other IC, it’s essential to refer to the manufacturer’s datasheet for detailed specifications, electrical characteristics, and application information. The datasheet provides valuable information for proper usage and integration into electronic circuits.
