The flange distributes clamp load over a larger area and often includes serrations or a locking feature to resist vibration loosening. They're used in sheet metal and plastic applications where a standard hex nut would pull through or require a separate washer. Push-on retainers (also called speed nuts or push-on speed clips) are non-threaded clip fasteners that snap onto a stud or post with finger pressure and hold a panel in place without any threading. They're designed for panels that need to be removed and reinstalled repeatedly, where a threaded fastener would be too slow and a rivet would be permanent. Push-on retainers are common on door panels, fender liners, and underbody covers. Questions about which fastener type applies to your repair? Contact us.
