65 PRIME 16mm T2.9

The NiSi 65 PRIME 16mm T2.9 marks a significant milestone in large format cinematography, offering an expansive 122 degree field of view on sensors as large as the ALEXA 65 Open Gate. By achieving an image circle of 65mm, this ultra wide prime provides a unique perspective that was previously reserved for much larger and heavier optical systems. Despite its ambitious coverage, the lens maintains a remarkably compact form factor that facilitates its use on gimbals, drones, and handheld rigs where mobility is paramount. The optical design prioritizes precision, delivering APO level chromatic aberration control and impressive resolution from the center to the very edges of the massive image circle. Furthermore, the 16mm exhibits sophisticated geometric correction, ensuring that straight lines remain true even at such an extreme focal length, making it an ideal choice for architectural work and VFX heavy productions requiring clean, undistorted plates. As the foundation of a new high performance series, the 65 PRIME product line is engineered to bridge the gap between traditional full frame optics and the demanding requirements of medium format digital sensors. Every lens in the series is designed with a consistent 95mm front diameter to streamline the use of matte boxes and accessories across various focal lengths. NiSi has focused on a unified character for the lineup, characterized by high contrast, neutral color rendering, and a disciplined approach to flare management. The mechanical construction reflects a commitment to professional standards, featuring standardized gearing for focus and iris control to ensure seamless transitions during lens changes. By optimizing these lenses for 65mm coverage while maintaining a lightweight profile, the 65 PRIME series offers a modern solution for cinematographers seeking the depth and scale of larger than full frame formats without the traditional bulk of legacy medium format glass.
