Fluorite Bear by Melvin Sandoval

A grayish mauve, soft muted purple and muted cream colored El Rito, New Mexico quarried porous fluorite bear carved by the abstract carver Melvin Sandoval standing upright on its hind legs holding a boulder in its front paws. A bear holding a boulder in its paws symbolizes grounded strength, concentrated inner power, and patient endurance. Melvin told Sunshine Studio when we first started buying his art, that the bear was created to be a guardian to mankind. The Zuni tribe view the bear as a powerful symbol of healing, protection, strength, and introspection. As the designated protector of the West, the bear is considered a vital spiritual guide and is a source of wisdom during times of change and transition.
