Marble Frog by Curtis Garcia

A dynamic brown and gray speckled marble frog carved by Curtis Garcia with turquoise eyes inlaid to the protruding eye sockets. There are incised decorative motifs all over the frog's body - one of Curtis's signature touches; inspired by Pendelton blankets, we are told. To achieve this effect, the marble frog is shaped and polished then the designs are incised. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frog sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Artist: Curtis Garcia (signed) Size: 1-1/4 in. wide x 2-3/8 in. long x 1-1/8 in. tall #64928
