Antler Otter by Robert Michael Weahkee

A small prominent cream and gray streaked antler otter carved by Robert Michael Weahkee floating on its back with a fish carved in low relief between its front paws. Robert has given both the otter and the fish turquoise inlaid eyes. He burnished the high points of the fish as well giving the eyes a fine resting place. There is also a fantastic offering bundle wrapped around the otter's neck with sinew featuring two tones of amber beads circling a larger quartz bead placed at the center. The Zuni believe the otter represents laughter, curiosity, and playfulness. It is seen as a beacon of joy that reminds people to revel in life's simple pleasures and carefree mischief.
