A quirky plump cream and red sienna streaked sea turtle carved by Gilbert Lonjose looking to its right side with turquoise inlaid eyes. The turtle has plump legs and a shell inlaid with eight turquoise dots around the scutes that are incised in low relief. Indigenous people recognize the turtle as the symbol of Mother Earth - some Native Americans believe that the turtle contributed to creation because the turtle dove into the primeval waters to retrieve mud to create the Earth.
