A small golden cream and darker gray and yellow ocher colored Cortez gold horned owl carved by Cody Nastacio looking to its right side with turquoise inlaid eyes. Cody has carved the feather rows on the wings simply but utilizing different patterns on the top than from the bottom of the wings. The horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head, called plumicorns. The Zuni people generally view the horned owl, often called "the Night Grandfather," as a protector of the home, a guardian of ancestral knowledge, and a symbol of wisdom. As a keeper of the night, it symbolizes the ability to navigate the unseen, clairvoyance, and the uncovering of deception. Artist: Cody Nastacio (signed) Size: 1 in. wide x 1-1/2 in. long x 1-5/8 in. tall #64854
