Jet Bird, Raven by Michael Coble

A large jet raven carved by Michael Coble perched on a rock looking up at the viewer with big turquoise inlaid eyes. Michael has incised the feather rows on the wings and tail. The face in contrast is smooth with a large prominent beak. Note that the rock the bird is perched on has a small void under the raven's right foot that has a 'hidden' apple coral bead. The Zuni artists say that ravens are filters and are messengers of the great mystery; so they represent a change in consciousness. Most carvers will also tell you the big jet black birds seen in New Mexico are crows though, not ravens. Artist: Michael Coble (signed) Size: 2 in. wide x 3 in. long x 3-3/4 in. tall #64785
