A gray, black and muted white orthoceras fossil badger carved simply by Sherdine Tsatte - with turquoise inlaid eyes. The name orthoceras means straight horn, referring to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell whose remains can be seen running down the center of the badger's back - creating a natural heart line. Sherdine also added a simple offering bundle to the top of the badger's back with sinew featuring two small round apple coral beads surrounding one larger rough hewn turquoise bead. Independent and tenacious; the badger is also a symbol of protection and defense, because the badger is always ready to guard its boundaries. As well, the badger is thought by the Zuni to possess knowledge of herbs so is good to have around when one is dealing with illness. Artist: Sherdine Tsatte (signed) Size: 1-1/2 in. wide x 2-1/2 in. long x 7/8 in. tall #64750
