Seraphinite Horned Toad by Chris Sandoval

A seraphinite horned toad carved in a rather abstract fashion by Chris Sandoval. The salient forms are the six horns on the crown of the head. Chris has left two voids - what we call cracks at Sunshine Studio. One is positioned right behind the head between the front legs and the other is right behind the front left leg. The horned toad lizard represents longevity and self-reliance and there's a link in Zuni belief between the horned toad and lightning; deriving from the zigzag spikes and horns found on the head and ridges on the toad's back. Seraphinite is an extremely unique and rare variety of chlorite, with beautiful dark green coloring. It was named after the Seraphim, the highest order of the angels, due to the gem's feathery wing-like appearance that shimmers under the light.
