A recently delivered turquoise maiden with jet features carved by Kateri Sanchez. There is a prominent grayish brown matrix with some pyretic sparkle on the back side - with three coral dots and four jet pigment star bursts added just above the incised lines of the fringe shawl. Maiden carvings remind us of abundance, fertility and the power of feminine energy and the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
