Howlite Sea Turtle by Jonas Hustito

A white and gray streaked howlite sea turtle carved by Jonas Hustito with its head upright looking at the viewer with turquoise inlaid eyes. There are ten skuts incised on the turtle's shell surrounded by a circle that has ten more delineation's added. There are prominent fins and a pointy tail bringing up the rear. Indigenous people recognize the turtle as the symbol of Mother Earth - some Native Americans believe that the turtle contributed to creation because the turtle dove into the primeval waters to retrieve mud to create Mother Earth. The turtle is regarded as a skillful navigator through life's difficulties. Turtle medicine teaches one to go with the flow.
