A muted white and blue/green colored amazonite maiden with a gold-lip inlaid face and jet features carved by Kateri Sanchez. Kateri has nicely incised the corn rows in a rounded fashion that gives them depth - ending near the base. The hair is nicely incised in the front with a shawl covering the top of the head. There are six incised star bursts and two dragonflies incised on the maiden's shawl - all are inlaid with jet pigment. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and corn maidens are revered in Zuni for giving up their life to help sustain the Zuni tribe with their corn bodies. Amazonite is a feldspar, which has derived its name from the Amazon River. It is said to have a soothing effect on the nervous system. Since the nervous system controls our emotions a great deal, this stone is said to soothe tense and aggravated situations and to enhance love. Artist: Kateri Sanchez Size: 1-1/8 in. long x 1-1/8 in wide x 2 in. tall #64520
