A yellow green and cream spotted corn maiden carved by Kateri Sanchez with a gold-lip inlaid face and jet features. There are nicely incised corn rows that cleverly taper down to a point near the base giving depth. Kateri incised designs on the fringe shawl that can be seen most fully on the back side. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
