Angelite Frog by Burt Awelagte

A Brazilian hombre colored angelite frog with turquoise inlaid eyes that starts out a periwinkle color near the face and becomes a soft grayish blue near the back end - carved by Burt Awelagte. Burt carved the hind legs as two ovals that join up with the body which comes to a point near the frog's back end. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain & are used to encourage the growth of crops. Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Artist: Burt Awelagte (signed) Size: 1-3/4 in. wide x 2-1/2 in. long x 3/4 in. tall #64414
