A rather large cream tinted white marble medicine bear with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by the medicine bear originator; Stewart Quandelacy. The bear's turquoise inlaid healing heart line resembles an EKG and is placed on the left side of the body where the bear's heart would be. The Zuni believe the Creator made the bear to be a guardian for mankind. The medicine bear shape is thought to resemble a cave opening - depicting a bear coming out of hibernation and the pose is the bear sniffing the ground for healing herbs. The bear is endowed with curative powers, strength, adaptability and courage - powers that can influence both the spiritual and physical realm. Artist: Stewart Quandelacy Size: 5/8 in. wide x 4-1/4 in. long x 2-3/4 in. tall #64390
