A prominent muted grass green serpentine horned owl with some dark black veins carved by Jayne Quam looking to its left side with turquoise inlaid eyes. Jayne has added her bits of shell and stone to the back and sides in her cloisonné style utilizing a clam shell to create a star, a serpentine moon, four pen shell triangular shapes and an iridescent piece of spiny oyster with bits of chrysocolla inlaid all around the shapes - that are sanded smooth - creating a beautiful blue green atmosphere. The great horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head, called plumicorns. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not - they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom. Owls are messengers from the spirit realm - bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life. Artist: Jayne Quam (signed) Size: 1-1/4 in. wide x 1-1/2 in. long x 1-7/8 in. tall #64354
