Antler Bobcat by Robert Michael Weahkee

A fantastic personable cream and gray colored antler bobcat carved by Robert Michael Weahkee looking up at the viewer with turquoise inlaid eyes. Robert burnished the bobcat's nose, then he incised whiskers and the fringed ruff around the face. The ear tips and parts of the ruff are burnished as well as the top edge of the bobcat's tail. There is a lovely offering bundle wrapping around the bobcat's neck featuring beads made from argellite serpentine surrounding three rectangular rounded lemon colored citrine crystal beads. The Zuni distinguish and honor the bobcat - he is the prey God of the south and is valued by the Zuni for being elusive, intelligent and a solitary and an independent hunter.
