Jicarite Frog by Dinah Gasper

A small cream, raw sienna, maroon, and pink colored jicarite low-to-the-ground frog carved by Dinah Gasper with turquoise breath holes and eyes inlaid into raised eye sockets. Dinah has added one of her sterling silver signature medallions to the underside of the frog's neck. Frogs are the result of water so are associated with the prominence of rain and are used to encourage the growth of crops. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Artist: Dinah Gasper (signed) Size: 1 in. wide x 1-1/2 in. long x 7/16 in. tall #64102
