Nevada Sandstone aka; Wonderstone Horse by Burt Awelagte

A large, plump two tone prominent peach and maroon veined Nevada sandstone horse with turquoise inlaid eyes carved simply by Burt Awelagte. The legs are carved as two simplified forms with a offering bundle strapped to the top with sinew featuring a mollusk shell surrounded by two turquoise beads. The horse represents the power of the animal world literally "harnessed" for the benefit of the human race. Horse medicine calls one to expand one's own potential abilities, tethering control of the environment, inter-species communication and offers us a good example of cooperation. The Zuni also believe the horse has healing powers. Artist: Burt Awelagte (signed) Size: 1 in. wide x 3-3/4 in. long x 2-3/4 in. tall #64096
