Phosphosiderite Badger Protecting The Village by Herbert Him

A detailed brown and black colored Picasso marble badger with turquoise inlaid eyes carved by Herbert Him protecting the village - created from the same stone and positioned to the left of the badger though its left front foot rests on top of it. Herbert incised the badger stripe as a line with a smooth raised ring around it. Then the artist incised fur on the rest of the badger's body. This carving conjures back to a Zuni belief that animals protected the village from floods back at its early inception. Badger medicine bolsters all defenses most especially one's own self preservation skills by focusing / guiding one's spirit to be more tenacious and grounded when working towards a goal.
