Picasso Marble Mountain Lion by Lance Cheama

A muted greenish brown, golden spotted and gray veined Picasso marble mountain lion carved by Lance Cheama looking straight a head with round lapis inlaid eyes in a very expressive face. Lance has carved the lion's legs and feet in the round with minimal lines incised to depict the hair behind the lion's neck and legs. Lastly; the lion's tail stretches out over an inch and a half behind the body before it curves back towards the left side with fur incised all around the tip of the tail. For the Zuni, the lion represents the guardian of the north - he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess and strength of will. The mountain lion enjoys the prestige of being one of the most capable predators, and therefore conveys to man a spirit to refine goals, preserve, and achieve.
