Antler Mountain Lion by Daniel Aguilar

Our first antler mountain lion with jet inlaid eyes, carved from one piece of antler by Daniel Aquilar. Daniel has created the form so that there are two bases made from two horn tips - that is where the feet are placed - allowing a separate long antler point to create an upright plump tail. There is an offering bundle placed on top of the lion's back with sinew featuring a large abalone arrowhead. For the Zuni, the mountain lion is the guardian to the north -he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess and strength of will. Daniel is a child of the frog and a member of the corn clan. His grandfather is the Zunis' church mission 'Michelangelo' - Alex Seowtewa! We hope to see more of Daniel and his unique carvings. He's primarily self taught though he says he used to watch his Aunt's partner; Bryston Bowannie when he was young.
