Pipestone Frog by Fabian Tsethlikai

A small rust iron red colored pipestone frog with turquoise dots added to the raised eye sockets with incised smile and dots to suggest nostril holes - carved by Fabian Tsethlikai. Fabian carved the frog with all the legs extending fully outwards with lines incised on the feet to suggest webbing. The rest of the body is left smooth and polished. The Zuni believe the frog is a reminder that we are all the same - development wise - we begin as tiny fishlike creatures in the womb then we evolve from swimmers to creatures of the land. The frogs sings its song reminding us of our watery beginning. Artist: Fabian Tsethlikai (signed) Size: 3/4 in. wide x 1-3/4 in. long x 5/8 in. tall #63850
