Wild Horse Rock Horned Toad by Kenric Laiwakete

A red burgundy, brown and white colored wild horse rock horned toad carved by Kenric Laiwakete looking up at the viewer with turquoise inlaid eyes. Kenric incised five horns to the back of the toad's head and he added the spikes simply in three raised rows with incised lines crossing them diagonally. As well - Kenric inlaid a turquoise heart line starting from the toad's mouth flowing downwards on the toad's right side. The horned toad lizard represents longevity and self-reliance and there's a link in Zuni belief between the horned toad and lightning; deriving from the zigzag spikes and horns found on the head and ridges on the toad's back.
